38 Weeks

I am now 38 weeks pregnant, and BunBun is 95% of the way to his due date!

February is here, which means we’ve arrived in his birth month. Somehow, time feels like it went by fast and slow simultaneously. The nursery needs a few finishing touches, but we have all the basics ready to roll. (I swear, photos are coming soon.)

We ended up meeting with and hiring a doula last Sunday. She’s certified through DONA, is familiar with the birthing center we’ll be delivering in, and is also a lactation consultant. We’re feeling really good about having her work with us.

Development

BunBun is now the size of a ukulele–he’s likely over 19.5 inches long and weighs over 7 pounds. We had yet another OB appointment on Tuesday–no surprises, just good measurements and heart rates. BunBun is still really active, and he reacts to outside noises. For instance, as we were installing a bookshelf in the nursery this week, I felt BunBun’s whole body jump in surprise the moment Kurt turned on the electric drill.

My Pregnancy Experience

Same story, different week: swollen feet and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I’m on the lookout for signs of labor now, although I think BunBun will end up going past his due date. Turning from side to side while trying to sleep at night is a serious challenge. The short amount of time I’m on my back in between is pretty uncomfortable; the excess weight feels like one of our dogs is sitting on me.

I’ve been looking back at pictures throughout the pregnancy. It’s so hard to believe that this day (when I gave Kurt “the news” on his birthday) was nearly nine months ago!20170610_124034

Well, we’re off to figure out dinner. We’re thinking about going to our favorite Thai place…for possibly the last time before we have a baby in tow!
