35 Weeks

We have hit the 35-week milestone, so we’re 7/8 of the way to BunBun arriving!

This week was full of highs and lows and nothing in between. (I’m actually writing this two days late and backdating it because the days got away from me. Oops!) We headed down to Rye on Friday for our Baby Shower on Saturday. (I added a couple photos at the end of this post.) It was a wonderful afternoon full of family, friends, and delicious food. (Huge thanks to my mom-in-law for putting it together for us!) Unfortunately, while driving home Sunday, we received news that one of my close relatives was dealing with a health emergency. The situation came to a climax mid-week, and it appears that the worst of it is over. Suffice it to say, it has been a scary, stressful week spent in hospitals, not knowing what the next day will bring, much less the next hour. Going through experiences like this reminds me how lucky I am to have Kurt as my husband. He’s simply the best. (It doesn’t hurt that he knows how to cook, too!)

Development

BunBun is now the size of a kid’s backpack, 18-19 inches long, and weighs in the neighborhood of 6 pounds. His fingernails are reaching the ends of his fingers–almost time for a trim! Most of the development he has left is just growing bigger and stronger; the only organs that need a touch more work are BunBun’s lungs, and those are coming along fast.

My Pregnancy Experience

Swelling! That’s the only word I can think of that describes my experience this week. My feet and ankles have been more swollen than in prior weeks, along with my wrists and hands. As a matter of fact, it seems that I have pregnancy-induced Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I’m going to buy some cabbage tomorrow as it’s known to be a natural remedy for it. We’ll see!
