26 Weeks

We are now at 26 weeks!

We attended a breastfeeding class on Monday night that was extremely helpful. The instructor was a doula and lactation consultant for 20+ years so she knew her stuff. She was very encouraging, shared good ideas, and provided resources that I’m sure we’ll refer back to in February.

We now have two pieces of furniture in the nursery: the glider and ottoman set that Kurt’s parents gave us and the dresser that was actually Kurt’s when he was a wee babe. (Nursery progression shots will be in an upcoming post.) We also moved most of our bedroom furniture back into our bedroom (hallelujah!) despite the fact that we have a couple more touch-ups to do there. One project we started on the bedroom that we have yet to wrap up is re-glazing the two south-facing windows. We took them apart on Saturday thinking we could get them back together before the cold weather set in on Monday. Well, this was the scene at our house on Sunday night:IMG_20171105_172014That’s me at 25.5 weeks pregnant, crouched on our porch roof, working on our bedroom windows with a headlamp because it gets dark way too early these days! Kurt took this photo, but he was right up there with me until about 8pm. (We had Fawlty Towers playing on his phone to keep us entertained.) By the time we called it quits that night, we had to postpone a good deal of the project until this weekend. We attempted to keep the heat in the house this week with loads of plastic sheeting, cardboard, and painter’s tape.

Development

BunBun is now the size of a bowling pin, over 14 inches long, and he still weighs about 2 pounds. His eyes, which have been sealed closed for months, are finally starting to open, so he will be more responsive to light. Most of his bodily systems and functions are now intact, and the majority of the rest of his development revolves around putting on weight. He’s clearly getting bigger/stronger…several times this week, Kurt and I have been able to see his kicks!

Symptoms

Nothing major to report other than my rapidly decreasing range of motion. Bending over to put my shoes on is a real chore, so Kurt often steps in to help. I think he knows we’ll get where we’re going much sooner by doing so. =)
