23 Weeks (+1 Day)
Yesterday marks 23 weeks!

I’m posting this week’s update today because yesterday was a crazy day full of work, painting, installing baseboard, family visits, and driving.
After our trip to Niagara Falls last weekend, Kurt and I went to a Ray LaMontagne concert on Sunday. Since we celebrated our anniversary all weekend, our actual anniversary on Tuesday was celebrated with a mellow day and some Thai food. That evening ended with our dogs getting sprayed by a skunk…oh, the joy of pet parenting!!
Development
BunBun is now the size of a Barbie doll, about 12.5 inches long from head to toe, and he weighs about 1.25 pounds. The app I have been using to track my pregnancy has a neat visual that shows BunBun’s hand size each week relative to how big it will be at birth (40 weeks). At right is the visual for this week.
He’s about to start gaining the fat he needs to keep warm without my help, and his lungs are continuing to develop. His skin is still transparent and a bit red because of the developing veins and arteries, but this won’t last long. He’s definitely been kicking more lately, at least four sessions that I can notice each day. (By the way, I forgot to mention in last week’s post that Kurt was able to feel BunBun kick for the first time! That was pretty great.)
Symptoms
Nothing new this week, although apps are warning me that swollen feet and temporary carpal tunnel issues may occur soon; I’d be very pleased if they don’t.
