We are officially at 13 weeks! Sailing into the 2nd trimester…

The past week was spent at the lake. We shared our news with all of Kurt’s aunts and uncles and many cousins. We also got a lot of awesome snuggling time with our 4-month-old niece.

Monday was incredibly frustrating as a month-long effort to get a non-invasive screening blood test brought us to about five dead ends. Fortunately, Kurt’s mom is amazing and helped us set up an appointment at a different clinic to get the test done that day! Huuuuge relief!

Development

BunBun is now the size of a jalapeño, about three inches long. The little bugger already has fingerprints, and its vocal cords are developing. Tiny hairs called lanugo are about to appear all over BunBun’s body – these help to hold the vernix (cheese-textured, white substance that covers BunBun’s skin and protects it from drying out) in place.

Symptoms

Nothing crazy this week. Although, I did eat a hotdog which I regretted the next day, so I suppose food cravings were a thing!
