8 Weeks
We celebrated the 8-week milestone by going to our first ultrasound. We saw our little BunBun (singular, thank goodness) for the first time!

It looks like I’m growing a bird, but they assured us it’s a human embryo. We saw BunBun’s heart beating (at a normal rate of 150 beats per minute). It was wiggling around quite a bit. Based on the measurement, they estimate that we’re 8 weeks and 2 days along today, but I insist we’re only 8 weeks based on the conception date.

Development
Cherry-sized BunBun will only be an embryo for a few more days. This means that its tiny internal organs are almost ready to start functioning on their own. Its tail is nearly gone at this point, and its webbed fingers and toes are poking out from little limbs.
Symptoms
Nothing new this week. I have to say, I’m pretty happy with the lack of full-blown morning sickness. The app I’ve been using was kind enough to remind me that any belly bulge I have at this point is mostly water retention.
