5 Weeks
Today marks five weeks pregnant. It’s been an eventful day. After sleeping for three hours, I got on a flight to San Francisco to join Kurt, Kristin, and Samantha. (I was pretty nervous about the flight, but convinced myself that pregnant women fly all the time.) After having delicious Korean food for lunch, we told Kristin “the news”. Her response was awesome!
Development
BunBun looks like a peppercorn-sized tadpole — it even temporarily has a tail! Lots of activity going on right now. Most of the early development is happening in its brain, but the circulatory system is going to be ready to go soon, too. Its heart is already starting to form its different chambers. Major organs including the stomach and liver, and bodily systems like the digestive and nervous are beginning to develop, too. This little bundle of cells is growing like crazy right now, nearly doubling in size each week!
Symptoms
The nausea seems to have started. I don’t feel like I’m going going to be sick, but it’s like a frequent feeling like my stomach is empty and hungry even if I’ve eaten recently. I’ve also been a bit dizzy today, but that’s probably just from the lack of sleep before the flight to SF. And since Italy, I still have serious fatigue in the afternoons.
