Italy 2017
At the end of May, Kurt and I went on our belated honeymoon. We chose to a guided week-long tour of the Campania region of Italy: Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, Paestum, Naples, Capri, Herculaneum, and Pompeii. It was WONDERFUL!
Day 1: Fly to Naples
We flew to Naples in two of the most uncomfortable seats on the planet.
Day 2: Sorrento
We arrived at our hotel way too early to check-in, so we had to wander around a bit on very little sleep.
Day 3: Positano and Amalfi
We took a tiny bus down the most dangerous road I have ever been on. Wide enough for one lane of traffic, yet driven on by two.
Day 4: Paestum
Temples
Day 5: Naples and the Museo Archeologico Nazionale
Museum
Day 6: Capri
Beautiful day on the water
Day 7: Herculaneum and Pompeii
Amazing day full of ruins
Day 8: Sorrento
The last day of our vacation was very relaxed. With nowhere to be by 8:00 am, we slept in a bit, grabbed lunch, and did some shopping. There was a group “Farewell Dinner” in the evening, followed by a late night of shenanigans with a few other travelers.
Day 9: Flying to New York
The flight home was even more painful due to the drinking festivities the evening before. Oddly enough, we were on the same plane — in the same seats — as we had been on the way to Naples. I could tell by the gum stuck under the arm rest.
